Following the devastating 7.3-magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015, which caused widespread destruction across Nepal with Gorkha being among the worst-affected districts, CDCA initiated relief efforts in Thumi village. Feedback gathered during the pilot phase indicated that disaster survivors experienced significantly higher satisfaction with tin sheets compared to tents. Encouraged by these findings, CDCA decided to continue the initiative on a modest scale. Originally, the project targeted 56 households with an allocation of 8 sheets per family, expecting to directly benefit approximately 280 individuals. However, through rigorous field surveys and data collection, CDCA successfully expanded its reach to 60 households in Thumi VDC, Gorkha, distributing 12 sheets to each family. This adjustment directly benefited 300 individuals, exceeding initial projections and demonstrating the heightened effectiveness of the project. Upon the success of these initial relief efforts, CDCA extended its distribution network to Solukhumbu, successfully providing tin sheets to 20 households with the generous support of Mitrata Kathmandu.
